This job involves leading engineering efforts for the design, construction, and testing of Virginia-class submarines, focusing on non-propulsion electronic systems, while coordinating with teams, shipbuilders, and stakeholders to manage risks, requirements, and technical projects.
It's ideal for experienced engineers or scientists who thrive in high-stakes defense environments and have a strong background in applying advanced technical principles to complex naval programs.
The role requires leadership in technical support and problem-solving for submarine platforms.
You will serve as Chief Engineer in the Program Management Office of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project.
The ND-5 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-14 and GS-15 and the ND-4 encompasses GS-12 and GS-13.
FOR THE ND-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level ND-04 (GS-12/13) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional Engineer or Scientist with demonstrated expertise applying advanced theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods of engineering, mathematical science, or computer science to define, organize, or direct engineering processes and project efforts related to the VIRGINIA Submarine Platform Design and Construction and associates Non Propulsion Electronic System components.
FOR THE ND-04: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level ND-03 (GS-09/11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional Engineer or Scientist with demonstrated knowledge of advanced theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods of engineering, mathematical science, or computer science to define, organize, or direct engineering processes and project efforts related to the VIRGINIA Submarine Platform Design and Construction and associates Non Propulsion Electronic System components.
