Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading and managing stormwater projects for Gwinnett County, including planning, designing, and overseeing construction of things like drainage systems, eco-friendly water management, and stream repairs.

Job Description
This position is in the Engineering & Construction Division and is responsible for project, technical, and construction management of various stormwater projects. The position requires a minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in the planning, design, and construction of stormwater management facilities (culverts and pipe systems), watershed improvement projects (Best Management Practices including Low Impact Development and Green Infrastructure), stream restoration/rehabilitation projects, or dam maintenance projects.

Essential Duties
  • Project management and technical guidance for stormwater projects including defining project budget, performing data analysis, and managing engineering and consultant contracts.
  • Coordinating the request for proposals process to include establishing specifications, evaluating vendors, and making final recommendations.
  • Methods, practices, and procedures used in the planning, design, and construction of stormwater projects.
  • Stormwater hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
  • Familiarity with Gwinnett County Stormwater Management Manual or Georgia Stormwater Management Manual.
  • Construction cost estimating for stormwater projects.
  • Reading and understanding engineering plans.
  • Preparing and reviewing stormwater project designs.
  • Construction Management of projects involving stormwater best management practices.
  • Prioritizing and assigning work.
  • Supervising and evaluating employees.
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, management, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Other Job Requirements/Information
  • This job is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule after an initial probationary period and individual approval.
Grade
The grade for this position is D61(1).

Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; AND
  • Four years of progressively responsible engineering experience, some of which should be in a supervisory capacity; AND
  • PE License, AND
  • Valid Driver's License.
