Job Description

Summary

This engineering role at the Naval Sea Systems Command involves leading teams and projects to maintain, repair, and modernize unmanned undersea vehicles and related equipment in a production setting.

Full Job Description

The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze.

Offers of employment related to this vacancy announcement will not be executed until the position has an approved exemption.

You will serve as an ENGINEER in the Unmanned Systems Integration Division of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV KEYPORT WA.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, ND-03 (GS 09/11 equivalency), in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a professional engineer applying electrical engineering theories, concepts, and principles to lead teams or projects within a maintenance or production environment.

  • You will train, qualify, and guide personnel on directives, policies, procedures, and equipment.
  • You will participate in candidate interviews and workforce shaping discussions (CTR vs GOV, grade-level, skill-set) with recommendations provided to the hiring manager.
  • You will impact team make up, identify needed skill sets for vacant positions, and analyze workload to recommend new positions.
  • You will assess employees' skill development and performance to inform supervisors of progress, training and mentoring needs, and recommended personnel actions.
  • You will support personnel with accomplishment of Unmanned Undersea Vehicle (UUV) and support equipment programmatic tasking, equipment problem resolution, planning and scheduling, repair, integration, and modernization.
  • You will use judgement to provide the most effective technical solutions and strategies, inform personnel hiring, assignment, and prioritization of tasking, develop and execute tech repair and test procedures, and create certification documents.
  • You will communicate broadly to develop technical support networks, collaboration opportunities, organizational workforce shaping recommendations, and analytic methodologies with Department leadership and external organizations.
