Full Job Description

You will serve as an EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the QUALITY ASSURANCE DEPARTMENT of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: demonstrating independent management of an emergency response program to include creating and maintaining emergency plans/procedures, acting as subject matter expert, and leading portions of emergency preparedness drills and exercises.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will develop radiological emergency response plans to an actual or potential nuclear reactor plant accident or other radiological emergency or all-hazard emergencies that may impact the safety of Nuclear Powered Warships at Pearl Harbor.
  • You will review Federal and Local government agency emergency response plans to ensure all the plans combined provide complete and integrated coverage of necessary radiological emergency response actions.
  • You will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in an area of radiological emergency planning (Liaison) and assign emergency response roles for shipyard employees and senior civilian and military personnel.
  • You will assist in planning and conduct of radiological emergency drills and media exercises to evaluate level of preparedness and conduct training sessions to train radiological emergency personnel.
  • You will assist in preparing and negotiating support agreements for coordinated response action with outside agencies and facilities.
  • You will identify the need for new or improved equipment, (e.g. radiological assessment equipment, communication system) and oversee subsequent planning, acquisition, maintenance, funding and procurement of equipment.
  • You will review the latest requirements and innovations in radiological emergency management plans.
