Job Description

Summary

This job is for a teacher at a school for deaf and hard-of-hearing elementary students, where you'll deliver lessons tailored to their needs, track their progress using data, and create a safe, engaging classroom.

You'll also develop personalized education plans and use technology to support learning.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Completion of a CAEP approved teacher training program or eligibility for South Carolina certification via alternative routes
  • Valid South Carolina teaching certification (or eligibility to obtain it) in relevant subject areas
  • Ability to implement appropriate communication modalities for deaf/hard-of-hearing students or acquire necessary skills
  • Experience or ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with regulations
  • Proficiency in using technology to enhance student learning and classroom management
  • Skills in data analysis to measure student progress and guide instruction

Full Job Description

Implement and refine district approved curriculum to meet the evolving educational needs of students. Systematically gather, analyze, and use data to measure student progress, guide instruction, and provide timely feedback. Uses technology effectively to enhance student learning and to manage the classroom. Maintain a safe student-centered learning environment that is engaging and respectful. Manage classroom with clear, consistent expectations for student behavior with an aim to create a calm, safe, orderly learning community. Develop and implement IEPs consistent with compliance requirements. Complete additional special educational actions and attend meetings as applicable as part of student’s educational team.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Completion of a CAEP approved training program or eligible for SC certification through the State Department of Education’s approved alternative certification routes. Valid SC certification (or is eligible to obtain a SC certification) in the subject area(s) employed to teach. Ability to implement appropriate communication modality and/or to acquire requisite skills.
