This job involves maintaining and repairing electrical systems, including fire alarms, security cameras, and high-voltage equipment, at a correctional facility in South Carolina.

Supervises and assists in the performance of maintenance and preventative maintenance of electrical fire alarms, CCTV, electronic security, PA, intercom and high voltage distribution systems, emergency generators and equipment.
Plans for electrical work including repairs to high voltage equipment and systems.
Reads blueprints and wiring diagrams and makes take-offs.
Requisitions materials and parts needed.
Ensures completion of installation/repairs.
Makes emergency repairs to electrical systems and equipment.
Performs on-the-job training of inmates.
Requires cross-training in other areas of the maintenance field to include: HVAC, plumbing and general maintenance.
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and experience in the construction or repair of secondary electrical systems. Relevant experience may be substituted for the required diploma on a year-for-year basis.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and 5 years' experience in the construction or repair of institutional electrical systems.
