Summary

This job involves leading a team to build, run, and fix the high-voltage power system that keeps the University of South Carolina campus running, including substations and energy plants.

Full Job Description

Directly supervise the high voltage electrical crew in the construction, operation and maintenance of theUSCcampus primary high voltage electrical distribution system including substations and the electrical distribution and control system of four energy facilities. This is a working supervisory position which participates in accomplishing work assignments as a skilled master trades craftsman in the areas of electrical distribution from the power company through building switchgear to include design coordination, project management, technical and safety oversight. Performs highly-skilled work in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment and fixtures.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and 7 years of strong background experience in Mid to High Voltage (460 volt to 8120 volts) electrical distribution systems and the associated equipment of substations and energy plants.

Additional Information

  • Knowledge and skilled in managing resources and inventories.
  • Must have the ability to lead by example, solve problems, take initiative to provide services, develop strong customer relationships, measure cost and performance, keep accurate records, communicate effectively, develop proper procedures, define actions to resolve specific problem situations, communicate to management, and prepare reports.
