What you will be doing:The Empowerment Specialists will work with low performing school districts across the state to improve education outcomes for students.
They will provide mentoring and support to administrators in these schools and districts to increase student proficiency.
This will involve creating and reviewing school improvement plans and providing oversight in the implementation of quality, evidence-based interventions aligned with the requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act.
The duties of this position require occasional travel within the state (approximately one trip of up to 3-5 days length quarterly) that can include use of small planes and be impeded by inclement weather.

The SRS team works closely with other teams within the division to coordinate efforts to improve student outcomes and improve the capacity of districts.
The position offers the opportunity for some flexible scheduling to promote work-life balance, as well as travel to remote villages in Alaska to support local education needs.
The incumbent will have the opportunity to continue to develop their skills in project management, communication, presentation, relationship building, and other areas of education.
Telework options may be available for qualified employees, with some in-office attendance required.

These positions may be located in Juneau or Anchorage, Alaska dependent on the location of the successful candidate. The Anchorage office is located in the Atwood Building; the Juneau office is located in the State Office Building.

Special Notice:
This position requires frequent travel (1 to 4 times a year) to remote areas of Alaska via small aircraft.
