What you will be doing:
This position will provide administrative and data support to various teams within the Division of Innovation and Education Excellence. This position will work with staff to create databases, data collection, data clean up, data analysis, and data reporting. In addition, this position will support various teams within the division to coordinate presentations, logistics, and revisions of existing documents.

The position will help carry out the mission and vision by providing administrative support across the entire division, enabling staff to provide support to schools, district, student, and families statewide.

Our Juneau office is located on the 9th floor in the State Office Building, and our Anchorage office is located in the Atwood Building's Suite 810. The position is assigned a cubical with ample light and has the option for teleworking after an initial training period, with the opportunity for flexible scheduling. The location is centrally located with plenty of parking, nearby restaurants, and coffee shops.

  • Database Administration: Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools for automating, developing, implementing, or administering database systems.
  • Adaptability: adjusts planned work by gathering relevant information and applying critical thinking to address multiple demands and competing priorities in a changing environment.
  • Project Management: Knowledge of the principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources, including monitoring and inspecting costs, work, and contractor performance.

Requirements

(1) Graduation from an accredited college, preferably in administration and/or education. AND One year of experience as an Education Associate 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.

OR

(2) Five years of experience in the broad field of education, counseling or administrative services, one year of which was at the technical/paraprofessional.

OR

(3) Any combination of the above.

Substitution: In option 2, graduate study may be substituted for the required specialized experience on a year-for-year basis. Undergraduate study, preferably in administration and/or education may also substitute for the generalized experience in option 2 on a year-for-year basis.
