What you will be doing:As the Division’s lead for strategic planning and communications, this position will act as the vital "bridge" that connects big-picture goals with real-world action for Alaska’s students.

This position will help coordinate exciting statewide initiatives and ensure that different teams are rowing in the same direction to meet the State Board of Education’s priorities.

A typical day might involve translating complex laws into clear guidance or using data stories to show the Board and the public the progress we are making together.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree;
AND either
1. Two years experience as an Education Specialist 2 or an Education Administrator 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
OR
2. Six years experience in education including two years in an administrative or supervisory capacity at least at a level of, or equivalent to, a principal responsible for several other professionals may be substituted for the two years of specific experience.

Appropriate graduate work may be substituted for a maximum of two years of non-specialized experience in No.2.

A masters degree in Administration and/or Education is preferred.

Due to the duties assigned to a majority of these positions, applicants may be required to possess an Alaska Teacher Certificate at the time of employment and be required to maintain certification as a condition of employment. Specific endorsements may also be required. Documentation is included in the file of affected positions.
