  • College coursework: 30 credit hours equal one year of training substitution
  • Experience in Economic Services work involving program eligibility decisions (1 year experience equals 2 years training substitution)
  • Valid driver's license may be required
  • Ability to complete a 1-year probationary period

Full Job Description


This position is an Economic Service Worker within the Office of Constituent Services, Customer Service Reporting Center located in Kanawha County. The worker is responsible for taking phone calls from the public who wish to report changes and/or make inquiries regarding benefits they are receiving through all the programs offered by The Department’s of Health, Health Facilities, and Human Services. The worker will complete all the functions of an ESW in a district office without taking face-to-face applications. Customer transactions will be completed by mail/phone as well as processing all changes reported. This position will also complete outgoing calls to verify reported information.

Qualifications

Training: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Substitution: Any combination of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience providing direct client services such as interviewing clients, customers or the public, and evaluating the data against established standards and guidelines may substitute for the required training on a year-for-year basis.

OR
Full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience performing customer service, telemarketing, retail or clerical work may substitute for the required training on a year-for-year basis.

OR
Successful completion of college coursework from a regionally accredited college or university may substitute for the required training on a year-for-year basis. Every thirty (30) credit hours of education will equal one (1) year of training.

OR
Experience in Economic Services work requiring program eligibility decisions may substitute for the required training at the rate of one (1) year of experience will equal (2) years of training.
Special Requirement: A valid driver's license may be required.
