This entry-level trainee position involves learning to help people apply for financial aid programs by interviewing them over the phone or by mail, checking their information to see if they qualify, and managing their cases.

Under close supervision, the Economic Service Worker Trainee performs in a training capacity learning the process of taking applications, determining eligibility for and managing a caseload for a variety of economic assistance programs for the Office of Constituent Services Customer Service Reporting Center.
This individual must learn to conduct personal interviews with clients, evaluating and verifying personal, financial and social information, and determining eligibility for services.
Responsible for maintaining a client caseload and referring clients to other social service and community service agencies when appropriate.
Customer transactions are completed by phone / mail, as well as completing all changes reported. May obtain repayment from clients who have been issued economic assistance erroneously.
Performs other duties as assigned.
