This entry-level job trains you to help people apply for and manage government benefits like food assistance, health coverage, and emergency aid by reviewing their information and using computer systems.
You'll learn to interview clients, check eligibility based on rules, and handle a busy workload of cases.
It's a good fit for someone with customer service or clerical experience who wants to work in social services and support families in need.
Under close supervision, perform in a training role learning the methods of processing benefit applications.
Determine eligibility for, and manage, a caseload for economic assistance including, but not limited to SNAP, various Medicaid programs, Emergency Assistance/LIEAP, and School Clothing Vouchers.
Learn to adeptly use department software to administer to a demanding caseload. Comprehend and adhere to complex policy regarding eligibility and issuance of benefits.
Learn to conduct interviews with clients. Train how to analyze financial and social information. May obtain repayment for economic assistance issued erroneously. Perform related work as required.
