This job involves leading a large team to manage and maintain the air traffic control systems and equipment across the eastern United States, ensuring safe and efficient air travel.
The role requires providing strategic oversight for infrastructure, policies, and operations in the National Airspace System.

The Air Traffic Organization (ATO) comprises 35,000 controllers, technicians, engineers, and support personnel whose daily efforts ensure that aircraft are safe, separated, and on time.
Technical Operations Services ensures a safe and efficient National Airspace System (NAS) by effectively managing air navigation services and infrastructure.

MANDATORY TECHNICAL REQUIREMENT (TR): TR: Experience leading, overseeing, and providing strategic direction for an organization responsible for developing and implementing policies, procedures, and compliance for a technical program in support of the National Airspace System.

Instead, you should attach proof (e.g., SF-50, Certification by OPM's SES Qualifications Review Board (QRB)) of your eligibility for noncompetitive appointment to the FAAES. Major Duties:
The Director, Technical Operations, Eastern Service Area (ESA), provides advice, guidance, and oversight to the ESA Leadership Teams regarding the management of air navigation services and infrastructure services and is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and modification of all infrastructure systems and equipment in the National Airspace System (NAS).
Principal Responsibilities Oversees the development of programs and standards associated with technical operations services within the ESA to include the delivery of maintenance services, construction services, communication services, assets and policies, financial management, performance metrics, National Defense Program assets, and overall navigation services, including procurement, charting procedures, and flight inspection in support of the NAS.
Implements national policies, procedures, and practices associated with technical operations services within the ESA.
Directs the installation, maintenance, and restoration of all systems and equipment in the NAS within the assigned ESA.
Allocates resources, staffing, and programs to support the mission, improve service value, and achieve performance targets.
Exercises delegated authority to make commitments on behalf of Technical Operations Services and represents the Federal Aviation Administration in meetings and forums.
