Full Job Description

The Director of Admissions provides operational leadership and oversight for the College’s recruitment and admissions functions, developing and implementing comprehensive enrollment strategies to achieve short- and long-term enrollment goals while ensuring exceptional service, cross-departmental collaboration, regulatory compliance, and data-informed decision-making to support student success and institutional growth.
Responsibilities of the Director of Admissions:

Strategic Planning and Enrollment Management - Develops and implements a comprehensive recruitment and admissions plan that satisfies College's short and long-term enrollment goals.

Serves as a key role in College's enrollment efforts. Analyzes enrollment trends and data.

Coordinates the delivery of Admissions services with all campuses and guides Campus Coordinators to best practices related to recruitment.

Determines operational decisions related to Admissions as well as staff and budget recommendations. Determines cost-effectiveness and recruitment yield of various recruitment activities.

Provides leadership and supervision to staff, including, but not limited to hiring, training, mentoring, and conducting performance evaluations.

Assists the Vice President for Student Services with the ongoing development, implementation, and assessment of all recruitment, territorial, and marketing strategies in light of data and demographics analysis.

Plans for and actively participates in meetings to ensure existing, new, and/or changing policies, procedures, and/or recruitment and retention initiatives are envisioned, communicated, and implemented effectively.

Maintains and monitors inquiry, application, enrollment, and retention records and statistics to identify enrollment trends for the purpose of maintaining appropriate enrollment levels.

Recruitment and Outreach - Establishes and maintains effective communication and positive relationships with professionals who have direct or indirect contact with the College and who may offer additional sources for prospective students.

Responds to inquiries with appropriate telephone, email, social media, personal contact, and mailings. Evaluates other colleges/universities in the area to develop a competitive advantage.

Coordinates and implements displays of College and program information onsite and in the community.

Develops and implements communication and marketing plans for recruitment including developing print materials, website content, and the use of social media. Represents the College at fairs and events.

Admissions Operations - Manages Admissions operations including the development of systems and processes for serving inquiries, applicants, and admitted students while creating an atmosphere of continual improvement.

Ensures delivery of outstanding service to students and other internal and external customers. Determines admission of new students following admissions policies and procedures.

Maintains Admissions operating budget. Conducts needs analysis of equipment, technology, and facilities, and makes recommendations to the Vice President for Student Services.

Prepares weekly reports regarding the status of Admissions operations and recruiting efforts. Develops, implements, and assesses efficient and effective Admissions processes.

Completes daily projects, activity management, and problem solving. Receives and corresponds to concerns related to Admissions.

Creates standardized and specialized office correspondence, forms, reports, and publications.

Collaboration and Student Success - Communicates with appropriate faculty and staff regarding program information and status of recruiting efforts to ensure student/prospective student satisfaction.

Assesses and coordinates activities with other departments including academics, advising, registration, financial aid, student accounts, student activities, and public relations.

  • Requirements

    State Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree and experience in student services programs. NETC Minimum Requirements: A master's degree with at least five (5) years of admissions experience. Proven sales or admissions experience in a goal-oriented operation preferred. Must have a valid driver's license.

    Qualifications

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Must be able to demonstrate the proven abilities of intellectual reasoning, power of persuasion, and consistent dedication to the position. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical interference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word). Ability to learn to operate College-specific software and applications. Must be a dedicated and driven professional who demonstrates energy, vision, and charisma. Must be able to exercise both authority and good judgment in a variety of situations, demonstrating exceptional leadership characteristics and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to work in a high-volume, fast-paced, goal-oriented atmosphere, both independently and as part of a unified team. Must be familiar with the major issues of recruitment and retention present in the realm of higher education and able to discuss options and alternatives to address them. Excellent leadership, customer service, phone, mentoring, training, and organizational skills are necessary.

    Additional Information

    Work is performed primarily in an office environment and requires prolonged periods of sitting and standing, as well as frequent use of a computer, telephone, and other standard office equipment. The position requires occasional lifting and/or moving of materials weighing up to 25 pounds (e.g., recruitment materials, displays, and event supplies). Travel throughout the College’s three-county service area is required, with occasional evening and weekend work to support recruitment events, college fairs, and community outreach activities. The position requires the ability to communicate effectively in person, virtually, and in writing, and to move between campus locations and event sites as needed.
