Full Job Description

The Deputy Director of Human Resources (HR) Operations is a member of the senior leadership team for the Michigan Civil Service Commission (MCSC).

The MCSC regulates conditions of employment in the state’s civil service and provides HR staff to most state agencies.

This position will help implement rule and policy changes from the commission and regulation and policy changes from the state personnel director to meet the MCSC’s mission, vision, and goals.

As a deputy, this position focuses on HR operations and guides HR teams serving 16 state agencies with almost 300 employees to provide classification, selection, labor-relations, and related core HR services.

This position will oversee the activities of Group-4 managers that provide direction for statewide HR offices.

Key responsibilities include managing staff and overseeing operations to optimize resources and drive efficiency, encouraging collaboration across agency HR offices and between HR and MCSC central office to identify improvements to deliver exceptional, innovative HR services.
