Requirements

As a Database Administrator 1 of the Database Integrity Team, you will be primarily responsible for the vast backup and recovery infrastructure of our Microsoft SQL systems within the Departments of Health and Human Services. Working with a team of database professionals, you will also support Oracle databases, working within established parameters with many developmental opportunities.

As a team member of the Office of Administration's Enterprise Technical Services Office, you will work within the HHS TSO and be responsible to the Data Integrity Supervisor supporting critical public-facing applications 24x7. Coordination with other IT teams to ensure the safeguarding of highly sensitive data technologies, maintaining current solutions, and supporting all Delivery Center initiatives are daily responsibilities. Additional activities include assisting with budgeting, reporting, and strategic planning, along with other items as needed.

You will utilize IT best practices and ServiceNow ITSM to process database requests and incident tickets, monitor work queues and progress, follow-up with staff and end users, conduct service reports, and work with the HHS Incident and Problem managers in coordinating responses to larger issues.

In this position you will be directly benefiting the citizens of Pennsylvania in all 67 counties related to health and public safety as you'll provide support for the IT systems being used for reporting and access to benefit programs from both DOH and DHS. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • We support 24/7 - Overtime may be required
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time; two days a week on location with the entire Database Team, which is currently Mondays and Tuesdays.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Five years of information technology experience that includes two years in the analysis, design, and maintenance of databases in overall support of database administration; or
  • One year as a Database Analyst or Information Technology Generalist 2; or
  • Three years of information technology experience that includes two years in the analysis, design, and maintenance of databases in overall support of database administration, and an associate’s degree in any information technology field; or
  • One year of information technology experience in the analysis, design, and maintenance of databases in overall support of database administration, and a bachelor's degree in any information technology field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires one or more years of full-time professional experience working with Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Management Studio, and SQL Server Backups.
