Requirements

As a Social Services Aide 2, you will assist program staff in providing a valuable range of services to clients including children, youth, and families.

You will engage in formal and informal agency training programs to learn the methods, procedures, rules, and regulations necessary to perform social service and case management support services to the wide-range of individuals we serve.


Within this role, you will share information regarding available resources to clients and families, assist with obtaining services from within the agency and other agencies, and provide clients with assistance with activities of daily living such as general housekeeping, personal care and hygiene, budgeting, food preparation and storage, and general nutrition. Work may also involve accompanying social service staff on visits to homes or institutions, supervising contact between parents and children, assisting with the completion of forms, and completing administrative tasks. Work is performed under the close supervision of a supervisor and is reviewed through observation and results attained.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: The starting salary is non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a County Social Services Aide 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school, or its equivalency, and two years of experience in public contact work in a human services agency which included one year of experience in interviewing and obtaining information; or
  • An associate's degree in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
