Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as a supports coordinator to help people with developmental disabilities set and reach personal goals, such as finding jobs, housing, and community connections, while coordinating services in everyday settings.

It requires building relationships with families, schools, and providers to create support plans that promote independence and a fulfilling life.

Ideal candidates are compassionate individuals with a background in social services who enjoy community-based work and have strong organizational skills.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social welfare or related field, or equivalent combination of education (at least 12 credits in sociology, psychology, or similar) and one year of professional social casework experience
  • Six months experience as a County Caseworker 1, or completion of County Social Casework Intern program
  • Strong writing, typing, time management, and computer skills for developing Individual Support Plans (ISPs)
  • Ability to work creatively and compassionately in community settings with frequent collaboration involving families, service providers, and school districts
  • Full-time schedule of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday-Friday, with possible evening/weekend flexibility to meet client needs; no telework available
  • Successful drug screening as a condition of employment
  • Ability to perform essential job functions, including community-based monitoring and coordination of services

Supports Coordinators have the rewarding opportunity to assist individuals with developmental disabilities in developing and achieving goals throughout the course of their lives. This public service position involves locating, coordinating, and monitoring needed services and supports. The job largely takes place in the community with frequent collaboration between families, service providers, school districts, etc. Since the position involves developing and maintaining Individual Support Plans (ISPs), writing, typing, time management, and computer skills are a must. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
    • This position may need to work outside standard work hours to accommodate and meet the needs of families.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
  • Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
  • A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
