Summary

This job is for an Assistant Director at a senior center, where you'll help plan activities, manage programs, and support the well-being of older adults through events, trips, and nutrition coordination.

It's ideal for someone compassionate and organized who enjoys working directly with people in a community setting to make a real difference in their lives.

No remote work is available, and it's a full-time role during standard business hours.

The Luzerne/Wyoming Counties Area Agency on Aging is looking to hire a compassionate, patient, and professional individual to join our team as an Assistant Director (Senior Center Operator). This position gives you the opportunity to function as an assistant to the Director of our multi-purpose Senior Center. In this role, you will be responsible for planning programs and activities in our active adult center. Requirements

As an Assistant Director, you will be responsible for ensuring the center functions in a manner that promotes the well-being of each participant. Work involves planning and implementing special programs and activities, escorting groups on trips, and coordinating nutrition programs. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records, preparing a quarterly newsletter, and ensuring the physical appearance of the facility is maintained. Effective communication is key as you will have the opportunity to educate community members on the services we provide and refer them to other agencies as needed, as well as respond to inquires from the general public.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three months of experience in providing direct services in a human services, education or a community based setting to the aging population or to individuals from various cultures and socio-economic backgrounds or to individuals who have physical, intellectual or emotional disabilities; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Luzerne or Wyoming County. If no eligible candidates who live within Luzerne or Wyoming County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
