Job Description

Summary

This job involves overseeing the daily operations of a housing unit in a correctional facility, managing staff like counselors and assistants, and supporting programs for inmates while communicating with families and external groups.

  • Substitution: Additional relevant experience may substitute for the required training on a year-for-year basis
  • Substitution: Master's Degree in criminal justice, corrections, social work, or related behavioral science field may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
  • Ability to supervise staff including Case Managers, Counselors, and Office Assistants
  • Skills in evaluating staff performance, preparing work schedules, and generating reports
  • Experience maintaining communication with inmate families, medical/mental health units, parole boards, and other facilities

Full Job Description


This is a supervisory position under general supervision that is responsible for the daily operation of a housing unit within a correctional facility. Provides assistance in structuring the institutional programs for the individual inmate. May supervise Case Managers, Counselors, and Office Assistants. Maintains communication with inmate families, medical/mental health unit, parole board and other facilities. Oversee the programmatic work of the specified unit or facility. Evaluates staff performance, prepares work schedules and prepares reports as needed. Will perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
