Non-Permanent Corrections Specialist Assistant (CSA) Resolutions
Coyote Ridge Corrections Center (CRCC)

The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to fill one full time non-permanent Corrections Specialist Assistant (CSA) position for Resolutions, at Coyote Ridge Corrections Center. COYOTE RIDGE CORRECTIONS CENTER (CRCC) is located on a 60-acre site about 40 miles north of the Tri-Cities. CRCC is comprised of two-complexes. The Medium Security Complex (MSC) is a 2,048 bed facility that houses Incarcerated Individuals (I/I) with Medium and MI3 Custody. MSC consists of 4 Hybrid units and 4 Medium units. The Minimum Security Unit (MSU) is a 480 bed facility that houses assisted living and MI2 Custody I/I. MSU consists of 2 units. This is a work/program orientated facility that offers many educational, vocational, and self-help programs and Class II and Class III Correctional Industries work programs.

Requirements

Under the direction of the Resolution Specialists, this position is responsible for performing data entry and tracking of incarcerated individuals' resolution requests. May also serve as a liaison between the Resolution Department and all areas of CRCC and other Department Facilities to include Headquarters. It supports the mission of the organization by filling an integral role in a vital correctional program that is essential for maintaining communication with staff and the incarcerated population. The duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide clerical support for the Resolution Program which includes two Correctional Specialist 2's
    (Resolution Specialists)
  • Facilitate, direct, and implement all aspects of the facility's Resolution Program (RP). Provide confidential administrative assistance to the Resolution Specialists.
  • Implementing the program in accordance with DOC RP Manual, and Policy 550.100. Ensuring OMNI applications are updated in a timely manner and screens are closed out according to timelines.
  • Providing the incarcerated individual population with relevant documentation, information, and access to the Resolution Program.
  • Collecting all complaints, in accordance with policy, from the facility Resolution boxes. Scanning appropriate resolution documentation into OnBase in a timely manner and using the appropriate applications.
  • Confirming all resolution documentation is accurate and filed for appropriate processing.
  • Exercise independent decision-making authority and discretion to decide which work methods to use, tasks to perform, and procedures to follow to meet work objectives.
  • Reviewing documents for compliance. Ensure timely interviews are conducted.
  • Ensure that incarcerated individuals are interviewed at least once before the resolution request is submitted to Level Ill.
  • Track all assigned reviews ensuring administrative responses are timely.
  • Transcribe written resolution requests at all levels to appropriate form(s).
  • Establish, manage, and maintain electronic correspondence with staff and incarcerated individuals.
  • Provide and prepare documentation for Public Disclosure Requests to include but not limited to: Searching databases for relevant documents pertaining to the Public Disclosure Requests within the specified time frames.
  • Analyzing resolution data, reviewing trends within the facility in a timely manner.
  • Assist with training of reviewing staff, as needed.
  • Record Keeping.
  • Establish and/or maintain complex and/or manual file systems or data base files.
  • Access and retrieve files from databases as needed for the resolution process and/or to assist the Resolution Specialists.
  • Develop and/or maintain specialized tracking systems, as required, to keep Resolution Specialists aware of all timelines and status of resolutions processed through the Resolution Department.
  • In support of Resolution Specialists serve as liaison to various staff interacting with the Resolution Program.
  • Assist Resolution Specialists with data entry, printing and scanning documents, and other routine support duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Four years' experience in a correctional field office or institution, (two years of which must be in a senior clerical position or higher).
*Note Qualifying work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Equivalent experience/education.
Preferred/Desired:
  • Bachelor's Degree

Telework Details

This position may be allocated for telework.

Work may be performed from your home or another offsite location within the state of Washington using a reliable internet or cellular hotspot service at that time.

Employees are expected to perform assigned duties in a safe manner, to take proper care all state-issued equipment, and maintain confidentiality of all information in possession while working offsite.

Employees will be required to commute to a Department of Corrections facility or field office as business requires, to potentially include components of the onboarding process.

Some offices will have a “drop in” area available, however, a dedicated workspace within a DOC facility will not be provided.
