iCoach - Port Angeles, WA
The Community Corrections Division has a permanent, full time Corrections Specialist 3 (CS3) opening available. This position, NX48, is with the iCoach Transition and Resource Unit, and is located at the Port Angeles Office, in Port Angeles, WA. This position requires travel to Washington State Prison Facilities.
The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Work hours are determined by unit needs and are at the discretion of the unit supervisor. If you are currently working an alternate work schedule, please be aware that this position may not be able to honor that schedule. For questions, please contact the Human Resource Office.
Qualifications
In accordance with Section 2 Supplemental DOC Article 4.7 of the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) 2025-2027 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), this job opening is available to internal transfer candidates ONLY. Employees who meet the following criteria may apply: - You are requesting a transfer under Section 2 Supplemental DOC Article 4.7 of the WFSE CBA.
- You are a permanent DOC employee.
- You currently hold permanent status in the job class being recruited for in this job posting.
- You are currently in a position represented by WFSE.
In addition to the above requirements for WFSE CBA Article 4.7 transfer requests, this position has the following requirements:
Required qualifications:1. Four (4) years of experience as a Community Corrections Officer within the Washington State Department of Corrections.
OR 2. Associate or Technical Degree from an accredited institution in counseling, sociology, social work, psychology, criminology, or closely related field.
AND A total five (5) years of professional case management experience in adult or juvenile corrections or closely related field which includes at least three:
- Making field visits.
- Facilitating meetings with multiple stakeholders.
- Preparing written correspondence, reports, and/or documents.
- Assessing cases and making recommendations.
- Referring people to appropriate resources.
- Presenting cases in court or hearings.
OR 3. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in counseling, sociology, social work, psychology, criminology, or closely related field. (Degree must be obtained from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or foreign equivalent.)
AND Three (3) years of professional case management experience in adult or juvenile corrections or closely related
field which includes at least three:
- Making field visits.
- Facilitating meetings with multiple stakeholders.
- Preparing written correspondence, reports, and/or documents.
- Assessing cases and making recommendations.
- Referring people to appropriate resources.
- Presenting cases in court or hearings.
OR 4. Equivalent combination of qualifying experience and education totaling seven (7) years.
AND- Staff who do not qualify for legacy status under the provisions for arming are required to be armed and must be willing and the ability to: possess and use a firearm under federal and state law; maintain firearm qualifications; and successful complete ongoing training requirements associated with mandatory arming and potential use of force.
