The State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Pine Grove is seeking a highly motived and creative person with leadership skills to help inmates learn a trade while they are incarcerated.

Requirements

In this position, you will provide classroom and on-the-job training and instruction to inmates for the standard practices, methods, and techniques of barbering.

This will require you to maintain order and discipline of inmates during work assignments and classroom instruction.

Your duties will include overseeing and instructing inmates in providing barbering services to inmates housed in the facility, as well as maintaining documentation of training progress and attendance.

You can expect to plan, develop, and administers a barber training program and maintains the barber school in accordance with state regulated guidelines.

Additionally, you will arrange for inmate students to take the Barber License test administered by the State Board of Barber Examiners when they are eligible.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of professional experience as a barber.


Special Requirement:

  • All positions require possession of an active Barber Manager License issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Barber Examiners.


Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the training academy in Elizabethtown, PA.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
