Requirements

In this position, you will serve as a Lieutenant performing administrative and supervisory work in the care, custody, control, discipline, and non-professional counseling of inmates.

Your work will involve supervising subordinate officers by assigning and monitoring their duties.

You will conduct inspections of all areas, conduct employee performance evaluations, and conduct interviews for prospective staff.

Some of your duties will include overseeing daily schedules, organizing inmate movements throughout the institution, taking periodic inmate checks, and monitoring the surveillance of institutional grounds and buildings.

Additionally, you will investigate violations of departmental and institutional policies, directives, and procedures by subordinate staff.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are to be determined, with rotating days off. Pass days will be determined.
  • This position is eligible for retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Corrections Officer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in corrections security work in a Pennsylvania state or county corrections facility. (Note: Persons seeking employment under this option will be required to successfully complete, or have completed, a training program conducted by the Department of Corrections.)

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
