As a Corrections Electrical Trade Instructor with the Department of Corrections, you will play a key role in teaching and guiding inmates in the practices, methods, and procedures of the electrical trade at the journeyman level.
Through demonstration, explanation, and close supervision, you will help students build the skills and confidence needed to perform electrical work safely and effectively.
In this position, you will provide both textbook-based instruction and hands-on training in the repair and construction of low- and high-voltage electrical systems.
Your teaching will cover a wide range of components, including lighting, power outlets, conduit, underground circuits, switch boxes, breaker panels, switchgear, transformers, motors, electrical appliances, and generators.
You will plan and assign work to inmates at various skill levels, offering clear communication, practical demonstrations, and ongoing guidance.
You will also review and inspect work in progress and upon completion to ensure it meets the standards of the electrical trade.
