This job involves teaching automotive mechanics to inmates in a Pennsylvania prison, helping them gain practical skills for future employment through hands-on training and shop instruction.
You'll demonstrate repair techniques on vehicles like cars, trucks, and heavy equipment, while managing schedules, tools, and progress evaluations.
It's ideal for experienced mechanics who enjoy mentoring and want to contribute to rehabilitation in a structured, full-time role.

As a Corrections Automotive Mechanic Trade Instructor, you will provide structured on-the-job training and shop instruction for inmates learning the automotive mechanic trade.
You will demonstrate standard practices, methods, and procedures of inspection, repair, and overhaul of automotive equipment including automobiles, trucks, buses, motorized farm equipment, tractor-trailers, and motorized heavy equipment.
You will determine the appropriate automotive curriculum, plan and assign inmate schedules, and inspect completed work assignments.
This role requires solid automotive knowledge and technical independence to process work orders, as well as a genuine desire to promote employability by ensuring inmates learn the standard principles and practices of the automotive mechanic trade.
In addition, you will issue and inventory all materials and tools, document attendance, and evaluate training progress.
