Job Summary:
Join the Division of Student Affairs to support the success of eligible participants at Weir High School in Weirton, WV, as they prepare for and advance through postsecondary education.
This federally grant-funded, full-time, benefits-eligible position requires assisting the Director of TRIO Programs in the daily delivery of services, promoting the program, providing academic and financial aid advising, and documenting project services.
Key Responsibilities:
Assists with coordinating services and strategies to improve student recruitment, retention, and graduation rates.
Conduct student intake, verify eligibility, and provide direct services, including preparing Individualized Educational Assessment Plans (EAPs).
Provide assistance and advise participants on social, career, financial aid, and academic matters.
Design and deliver college readiness and success workshops.
Coordinate and oversee academic support staff (tutors/mentors) and the six-week residential summer component.
Gather data, maintain participant records, and contribute to the Annual Performance Report.
Assists with planning, coordinating, and chaperoning field trips and engage in follow-up activities with participants.
Assist with program publicity and communication efforts.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, social work, business, or a related field.
Two years of recent, relevant work experience in program coordination, academic/financial aid advising, counseling, or instructing/mentoring students, preferably with TRIO or other college access/student success initiatives.
Familiarity with college access and success efforts.
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to travel locally, regionally, and nationally, including possible airline travel.
Remote location must be within reasonable driving distance of Weir High School.
