Job Description

Summary

This job as a Contract Specialist with the Navy involves helping manage contracts for supplies and services, from assisting with decisions and modifications to monitoring contractor performance and participating in acquisition discussions.

Key Requirements

  • Basic Requirements for the 1102 Contracting Series as per OPM standards
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-05 for GS-07 level, focusing on contract administration principles, policies, and procedures

Major Duties:

  • At the GS-07/09/11 you will perform developmental duties as assigned. At the Full Performance Level (GS-12), you will perform the following:
  • You will resolve problems inherent in the contracting and teaming processes and provide training to junior team members.
  • You will coordinate contractor's requests for waivers or deviations from contract specifications.
  • You will perform comprehensive acquisition planning, analysis, and negotiation for repair and/or spare parts acquisitions in support of managed equipment.
  • You will develop the contractual strategy and acquisition plan utilizing various innovative contracting vehicles.
  • You will evaluate requests for equitable adjustment and special financing provisions.
  • You will negotiate changes in price(s), terms and conditions due to contract modifications, supplementary agreements, settlements from change orders due to defective specifications, changed site conditions(s), etc.
