Job Description
Summary
This job involves working as a correctional officer focused on detecting and stopping contraband like drugs and weapons in a prison, including searching cells, vehicles, and people, as well as testing inmates for drugs and reporting on gang activities.
It's a hands-on role in a secure facility that requires staying alert and following strict rules to keep the prison safe.

Full Job Description
- Assist with intelligence gathering to contribute to prevention, detection, and seizing of contraband items at the institution.
- Responsible for inmate drug testing.
- Assist with cell searches, contraband retrieval, employee as well as employee, visitor, vehicle, dorm and package searches.
- Provides the Warden with pertinent information as it relates to gang activity and suspicious behavior within the institution.
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
SCDC Minimum Requirements:- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- 18 years of age or older
- High school graduate or GED
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Tattoos: Must not be offensive and/or gang related or visibly located on the face or head. Tattoos on the neck will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
- Cannot have been convicted of a crime with a maximum allowable sentence of one year or more, or a fine of $1,000.
- Must pass a medical assessment administered by SCDC.
- Must be certified.
