This job is for an Armory Sergeant at a correctional facility, where you'll manage weapons, chemical munitions, and security equipment, ensuring everything is properly logged, maintained, clean, and compliant with rules for inspections and audits.

Serves as the Armory Sergeant.
Maintain up-to-date files indicating which weapons are chemical munitions and security.
The armory sergeant ensures that all equipment is issued and logged properly.
Also ensures that the armory is kept in compliance per policies and procedures for all future audits of the armory.
The armory sergeant will ensure that the armory is kept clean and ready for any inspections.
They are also responsible for the serviceability of all weapons within the armory.
The armory sergeant is to maintain security in the armory at all times and have knowledge of maintenance and safety procedures of all weapons, chemical munitions, and security equipment.
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and eighteen (18) months experience in correctional, security, military, or police work.
A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for 1/2 of required experience.
Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
