The Department of Human Services (DHS) is searching for an organized Clerical Assistant 3 to join the Division of Third Party Liability (TPL). Our staff supports the entire division by performing a variety of essential clerical tasks that ensure efficient daily operations. Requirements

As a Clerical Assistant 3, you will screen all new incoming correspondence relating to casualty, estate recovery, and other requests for appropriateness, completeness, and urgency.

This role requires strong decision-making skills and effective communication to independently open cases and process claims as well as correspond with attorneys, recipients, insurance companies, nursing home facilities, and county assistance offices.

Work involves researching and analyzing information using various databases, responding to lien inquiries, as well as compiling complex client data for agents and investigators to use when negotiating final settlements.

You will also be responsible for maintaining a file room and answering dedicated hotline calls.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Free parking
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
