Hiring Salary Range:

(based on experience)

Camp Directors: $19.80 - $21.80/hour

Inclusion Counselors: $17.80 - $19.80/hour

Camp Counselors: $16.80 - $17.80/hour

Job Descriptions Camp Directors, Inclusion Counselors, and Camp Counselors are responsible for orienting, monitoring, and leading children through the day-to-day operations of summer camp, including the setup and cleanup of equipment and supplies for camp activities.

Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors, be effective communicators with children and adults, and possess the ability to transition groups of children effectively.

Camp staff are required to enforce rules and regulations, ensure attendance and camp records are completed, provide first aid as needed, maintain equipment and inventory, and report/manage discipline problems, accidents, and other incidents.

Specific responsibilities and minimum requirements for each position are listed below. Please note that there will be several days of MANDATORY training required of staff during the month of May 2026.

These dates will be shared at time of interview.Essential Duties:


Minimum Requirements for all positions:


  • CPR and First Aid certification is required prior to the first day of camp
  • Previous experience working in a day camp setting or teaching children is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communicator with children and adults
  • Ability to transition groups of children effectively


Other Job Requirements/Information (for all positions):

  • This job requires fingerprinting: Candidates must undergo a comprehensive background check and obtain a satisfactory determination from the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL).


Camp Directors will be responsible for:


  • Communicating all issues with the Camp Director and Program Supervisor
  • Developing and implementing lesson plans
  • Leading children and counselors through the day-to-day operation of camp, including set up and clean-up of equipment and supplies for camp activities
  • Monitoring camp staff work hours and completing and submitting time sheets. Monitors attendance
  • Orienting, monitoring and leading children in various activities
  • Participating in staff and program evaluation
  • Supervising and leading various activities, games, and crafts for campers
  • Supervising camp staff, interaction with parents and paperwork completion, including weekly reports


Inclusion Counselors will be responsible for:


  • Communicating all issues and concerns to Program Supervisor
  • Interacting with parents and paperwork completion, including weekly reports
  • Leading children through the day-to-day operation of camp, including set up and clean-up of equipment and supplies for camp activities
  • Maintaining confidentiality of parents, children, and staff
  • Maintaining equipment and inventory
  • Orienting, monitoring and leading children in various activities
  • Supervising and leading various activities, games, and crafts for campers
  • Working directly with campers who have physical and/or cognitive disabilities


Camp Counselors will be responsible for:


  • Communicating all issues with Camp Director and Program Supervisor
  • Helping to develop and implement lesson plans
  • Leading children through the day-to-day operation of camp, including set up and clean-up of equipment and supplies for camp activities
  • Leading various activities, games and crafts for campers
  • Maintaining equipment and inventory


Hourly rate:


  • The Grade for this position is 97. Pay rate will be dependent on education and experience.

Minimum Qualifications for Camp Directors, in addition to minimum requirements for all:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must possess valid Georgia Driver’s License
  • College level course work in recreation, health and wellness, elementary/secondary education or similar field of study is required
  • Must have supervisory experience
  • Experience or formal education of techniques employed in working with special needs specifically behaviorally challenged populations preferred


Minimum Requirements for Inclusion Counselors, in addition to minimum requirements for all:


  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must possess a valid Georgia driver's license
  • Previous experience working in a day camp setting or teaching children with special needs is preferred, or college course work in special education or related field
  • Ability to determine accommodations and communicate adjustments with other camp staff


Minimum Requirements for Camp Counselors, in addition to minimum requirements for all:


  • Must be at least 16 years old


Physical Requirements:


The work involves direct involvement with day camp participants, which typically requires bending, crouching, stooping, standing for long periods of time, considerable walking, and may require intermittent lifting of objects of a minimum of 25 pounds.

The work is performed indoors and outdoors in all kinds of weather.
