What You Will Be Doing
The Division of Finance is seeking a Business Analyst I/II to join the Integrated Resource Information System (IRIS) Human Resource/Payroll (HR/Payroll) team.
This team is essential to the success of the State's HR/Payroll system.
We are looking for a well-rounded, motivated, and experienced individual who can contribute expert-level professional human resource knowledge, exceptional customer service, and critical thinking skills to thrive in our fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Who We Are Looking For
We are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following position specific competencies:

Analysis and Assessment: Uses information technology in accessing, collecting, analyzing, maintaining, and disseminating data and information.
Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Problem Solving: Identifies and analyzes problems; weighs relevance and accuracy of information; generates and evaluates alternative solutions; makes recommendations.
Only experience in the areas of Payroll/Human Resources will be considered.
All other areas will be considered as not meeting the Minimum Qualifications of this position.
Business Analyst 1
Two years of professional experience in an administrative field such as procurement, accounting, human resources, computer and information systems, and so on.
Or, for positions in the specialized field of accounting, four years of advanced technical and /or supervisory accounting experience.
This is met by experience as an Accounting Technician 3, Accounting Technician 4, Accounting Supervisor 1 (obsolete), or Accounting Supervisor 2 (obsolete) with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Substitution:Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, business administration, business management, marketing, economics, statistics, computer and information science, logistics, or information systems management, or similar coursework will substitute for up to one year of the required experience (2.67 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).Special Note:Recruitment and selection shall be limited to candidates with knowledge and experience in a specific specialized area.
Such restriction shall be noted in the recruitment announcement.
