Job Description

Summary

This job involves providing high-level administrative support to the County Board of Supervisors, including helping with commissions, committees, grant funding processes, and public relations efforts to strengthen the community.

It's an at-will position appointed by the Board, with levels based on experience, offering a chance to contribute to public service in a vibrant, affordable area of California.

A good fit would be someone passionate about government work, with a background in administration or communications and experience supporting boards or public agencies.

Key Requirements

TULARE COUNTY BOARD REPRESENTATIVE I/II/III
THIS IS AN AT-WILL POSITION APPOINTED BY AND SERVES AT THE PLEASURE OF THE TULARE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS


Tulare County is seeking qualified candidates for the rewarding position of Board Representative I/II/III.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by providing executive-level support to County-sponsored commissions, committees, and the process of grant funding distributed by the Board of Supervisors.

This position also contributes to public relations efforts and performs a broad range of administrative functions in support of the Board of Supervisors.

SALARY INFORMATION BY LEVEL

Level I: $5,176-$6,308 Monthly and $62,113- $75,699 Annually

Level II: $5,719-$6,971 Monthly and $68,634- $83,646 Annually

Level III: $6,309-$7,689 Monthly and $75,706- $92,265 Annually


BOARD REPRESENTATIVE WORK SCHEDULE

Monday-Thursday: 7:30 am – 5:30 pm; Friday: 8:00 am – 12:00 pm

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications are used as a guide for establishing the education, training, experience, special skills and/or license which are required and equivalent to the following and possessing the knowledge, skills and abilities you will find listed on the job specifications.


Level I

  • Education: Equivalent to graduation from college with a bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, journalism, communications, political science, or a closely related field.
  • Experience: Two (2) years of increasingly responsible administrative/board public relations staff support in a public or private agency.

Level II:

  • Education: Equivalent to the requirement for Level I.
  • Experience: Two (2) years of increasingly responsible administrative/board public relations staff support in a public or private agency AND one (1) additional year of working for a public agency, commission, elected official, or policy board.

Level III:

  • Education: Equivalent to the requirement for the Level I & II.
  • Experience: Two (2) years of increasingly responsible administrative/board public relations staff support in a public or private agency AND two (2) additional years of working for a public agency.


License or Certification: Possession of, or the ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver’s license.

Additional Information

Conditions of Employment:

  • Candidates selected may be required to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Additionally, a background investigation may also be conducted, which may include a re-investigation every 10 years for some positions.
