Job Description

Summary

This job involves serving as an expert in evaluating and regulating pesticides to ensure they are safe for people and the environment, including reviewing applications for new products and advising on related policies.

It requires working in a team to handle scientific data, make regulatory decisions, and guide others on these matters.

A good fit would be someone with advanced experience in chemistry, biology, or entomology who enjoys solving complex environmental problems and has strong leadership skills.

Key Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-13 level, including applying pesticide risk management principles and analyzing statutes for chemicals
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in biology, entomology, chemistry, or a related field (basic entry education requirement)

Full Job Description

These positions are in the Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention, Office of Pesticide Programs, Registration Division, Multiple Branches.

About: OCSPP This is an office-centered position--you must physically report to one of the duty stations stated in this announcement on a regular basis.

NOTE: You must meet qualification requirements, including any requirements described in the Education section, by the closing date of this announcement.

In addition to the basic entry education requirements, you must have specialized experience and/or directly related education as described below: To qualify for the GS-14 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level defined as applying pesticide risk management principles to resolve issues; analyzing and implementing mandated statutes using procedural guidance for related chemicals; overseeing/participating in the technical and administrative aspects of registration and tolerance actions; and coaching, training, or mentoring team members.

You will: Serve as subject matter expert of scientific/regulatory concerns and data associated with active ingredients and related products to provide the basis for sound regulatory decisions regarding pesticide registration.

Direct the completion of the registration, registration review, experimental use permits, and petitions for tolerances for all chemicals within the jurisdiction of the Product Management Team.

Provide advice and assistance to internal and external stakeholders on issues related to pesticide policies, programs, and projects.
