Job Description

Summary

This job involves organizing, preserving, and managing records for Utah's state parks, including helping staff with record-keeping rules, handling research requests, and ensuring everything complies with state guidelines.

You'll work in an office setting, interacting with park teams while supporting the preservation of important documents about Utah's outdoor spaces.

Key Requirements

  • Experience with records inventory management and creating/revising retention schedules
  • Knowledge of managing and responding to GRAMA requests with compliance and timely processing
  • Understanding of library science principles and archival best practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google suite products
  • Ability to learn new programs quickly and work comfortably with databases, websites, and electronic records
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to interact effectively with staff
  • Availability to work Monday–Friday, 5.5 hours per day in the office in Salt Lake City

Job Title: Archivist I

The Archivist I plays a key role in preserving and organizing State records. This position supports agencies with records scheduling, classification, appraisal, and archival processing. You will also provide research assistance and help maintain compliance with public records guidelines. Ideal for candidates seeking structured training and growth in archives and records management.

Requirements

  • Privacy and Records Information Management for State Parks.
  • Assisting and training State Parks staff on records management and privacy.
  • Maintaining up-to-date customer and agency information in a database.
  • Facilitating the transfer and accessioning of digital and analog records.
  • Maintaining and revising the State Parks records retention schedules.
  • Managing communication with the Division of Archives and Records Services.
  • Creating and maintaining finding aids for physical and digital records.
  • Respond to GRAMA requests.
  • Answer phones and help with office coverage.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience with records inventory management, including creating and revising retention schedules.
  • Experience managing and responding to GRAMA requests, ensuring compliance and timely processing.
  • Understanding of common library science principles and archival best practices.
  • Knowledge and skill of Microsoft Office and Google suite products.
