Summary

This job is for an afternoon custodian at the Utah State Hospital, where you'll handle everyday cleaning tasks like washing linens, mopping floors, emptying trash, and keeping the facility neat and safe for patients and staff.

It's a full-time role from 11:30 am to 8 pm, Monday through Friday, with state benefits and a hiring bonus.

Do you love to clean and do you want to make a difference in your community? The Utah State Hospital (USH) is seeking a capable, diligent employee to work as an entry-level Custodian. Custodians at USH are responsible for routine cleaning and maintenance of our beautiful facility.
This position is full-time, (Monday-Friday 1130am-8pm) and includes a full State
benefits package!

The Minimum Qualifications:
  • Familiar with basic housekeeping practices, techniques, and procedures.
  • Physically able to meet the demands of the position, which includes, but is not limited to repetitive and continuous walking, standing, crouching, lifting, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable using cleaning chemicals, tools and equipment.

The Preferred Qualifications:
  • Able to closely follow written or oral instruction and willingly accept training and feedback.
  • Diligent, reliable and trustworthy.
  • Detail oriented when completing assigned cleaning duties.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Principal Duties
  • Sorts soiled linens, washing, drying, folding, and re-stocking clean linens on a daily basis.
  • Cleans and maintains floors, dusts, waxes, and polishes furniture, washes windows, mirrors, and other glass or plastic items, empties trash and garbage, etc.
  • Maintains building(s) and/or facilities in a clean and orderly condition and/or removes snow from sidewalks and doorways, etc.
  • Cleans, sterilizes, and or disinfects areas and/or equipment.
  • Sets up and arranges tables and chairs.

  • In this position you will likely encounter risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc.
  • The work of this position requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing, lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restrictive areas, etc.
