Base salary range: $104,604 - $135,987

Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves leading a team to manage and improve space suits used during spacecraft launch, entry, and emergency situations for NASA's commercial crew program.
You'll oversee design, testing, and problem-solving to ensure the suits perform safely and meet mission needs.

As the Intravehicular Activity (IVA) Suit Lead for Commercial Crew within the Crew and Thermal Systems Division, Space Suit and Crew Survival Systems Branch, you will be responsible for systems management, project management, and technical expertise in the area of IVA launch, entry, and abort space suit systems.
You will lead a team of highly skilled engineers and be recognized as an expert by programmatic and engineering management.
In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.
NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA's unique aerospace work.

To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level: Collaborating on a broad range of interdisciplinary development, design, test, and verification activities to ensure the System performance meets all System requirements; Providing technical oversight for the implementation of new capabilities and modification of existing capabilities for a system with an emphasis on one or more of the following: computer hardware and software, mission training facilities, engineering analysis systems, simulation systems and tools; Participating in design, development, test, evaluation, and problem resolution activities related to space suit systems, while applying creativity and innovation to meet programmatic objectives.
