Join our team supporting a high-performing solid waste system that includes a major regional landfill and eight busy transfer stations.

This is more than an administrative position — it’s a chance to be at the operational center of a service that protects public health, advances environmental stewardship, and ensures equitable access to essential infrastructure.

In this role, you’ll take on a wide range of responsibilities, from improving administrative systems to supporting hiring, purchasing, and procedure implementation across multiple sites.

About this Role:

As an Administrator I, supporting a large regional landfill, shop, eight transfer stations, and several closed landfills, your work is vital to ensuring the smooth, equitable, and efficient operation of essential public infrastructure.

This role provides key administrative support that directly impacts frontline operations, from staffing and contracts to purchasing, training coordination, database management, and process improvements.

You'll work collaboratively with field teams, leadership, and external partners to manage projects and support strategic initiatives that benefit both internal teams and the broader community.

Requirements

  • Provide front office management for the facility, including reception, distribution of mail,
  • Photocopying, records management, and website and SharePoint maintenance.
  • Responsible for drafting, summarizing, preparing, proofreading, and editing documents and correspondence to ensure these conform to the appropriate use of the English language, and established procedures
  • Facilitate Commuter Bonus program
  • Assist with onboarding employees
  • Track and work collaboratively to manage data and update databases
  • Assist in managing travel via Concur, customer service complaints in MS CRM, and follow-up
  • Manage facility tour requests
  • Create standard work and processes
  • Train staff and other employees on use of software programs used daily by staff.
  • Paying invoices and/or purchase orders.

Qualifications

Qualifications You Bring:

  • Administrative Support: Increasingly responsible administrative support or business administration experience.
  • Resourcefulness: Organizational skills and demonstrated ability to multitask; ability to produce quality products and services while under the pressure of multiple deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Technical Proficiency: Intermediate to Advanced level in using various computer software, such as but not limited to: Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint. (NOTE: Candidates will be skills tested.)
  • Records, Information, & Database Management: Demonstrated experience organizing and maintaining confidential digital and physical records and data, ensuring proper handling, secure storage, and compliance.
  • Managing Limited Scope Projects: Demonstrated experience frequently handling small work unit projects with limited scope. Examples include creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and providing SOP training, converting hard-copy information to electronic data, implementing policies, etc.
  • Process Improvement: Demonstrated experience with identifying, analyzing, and improving specific internal processes, contributing to enhanced efficiency and operational excellence within the work unit.

Additional Information

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and transport 30 lbs. as needed. This includes, but is not limited to, industrial/office materials, food items, etc.

It Would be Great if You Also Bring:

  • 4 years’ experience in an administrative role with increasing responsibility
  • Experience with Power BI or equivalent data visualization software.
  • Experience with Content Manager or equivalent records management software.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Experience working with multiple managers and supervisors in a unionized environment.

Supplemental Information

Working Conditions:

  • Work Location: The primary work location is Cedar Hills Regional Landfill, 16645 228th Ave SE, Maple Valley, WA 98038. You may be required to travel promptly to other work locations, including sites that are not served by public transportation. County vehicles may be available to utilize.
  • Work Schedule: This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible with supervisor approval.
  • Union Representation: This position is represented by Teamsters 117 Professional and Technical.
