Summary

This job involves supporting production and procurement for military programs like rocket devices and propellants at a naval facility, including planning resources, tracking deliveries, managing inventory, and preparing reports under supervision.

It's a good fit for someone with experience in administrative or technical support roles, especially in manufacturing or government contracting, who is detail-oriented and comfortable coordinating with vendors and teams.

Entry-level candidates with basic procurement assistance experience can apply for the lower grade, while those with more advanced production planning skills suit the higher level.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to NT-2 (GS-5/8) for higher grade, supporting production controller functions like planning manpower and materials
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to NT-1 (GS-1/4) for lower grade, assisting with procurement packages and reviewing production requirements
  • Familiarity with procurement methods including credit cards, contracts, indefinite delivery agreements, blanket purchase agreements, and qualified bidder lists
  • Ability to track vendor deliveries, resolve issues, and develop recovery plans for delays
  • Proficiency in using Shop Workload Management Systems (SWMS), databases, and spreadsheets for inventory control
  • Experience preparing budgetary and performance reports, material inspection requests, and close-out reports
  • Strong coordination skills for monitoring complex programs and notifying stakeholders on status and payments

For the NT-3: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-2 (GS-5/8 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector supporting production controller functions by assisting in the planning of operational phases to include manpower and materials for a program.

For the NT-2: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-1 (GS-1/4 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector assisting with procurement packages by reviewing production requirements for a program.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will be responsible for providing production control on various Cartridge Activated Devices (CAD) / Propellant Actuated Devices (PAD) and Rocket Programs.
  • You will assist with resolving issues and establishing guidelines under general supervision.
  • You will be responsible for control of production programs in which the size, complexity, and importance require coordination, constant monitoring, and resource management.
  • You will assist with providing regular budgetary and performance reports.
  • You will prepare procurement packages required for procurement of components using procurement methods including, Credit Card, Large/Small Contracts, Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity, Blanket Purchase Agreement, Qualified Bidder’s List.
  • You will prepare requests for bids and submit to prospective vendors.
  • You will track vendor delivery progress to ensure on time deliveries and work closely with internal and external customers to develop get well plans when vendor deliveries slip.
  • You will prepare material inspection requests; ensure appropriate condition code tags are applied to incoming products.
  • You will use Shop Workload Management Systems (SWMS) and other available databases and spreadsheets as required to control material issues from and returns to inventory.
  • You will provide notification of status and receipt of items to appropriate officials to ensure prompt vendor payment or return of discrepant items.
  • You will provide close out reports on all programs and ensure return of excess materials, tools, and inventory to the appropriate area.
