Job Description

Summary

This job involves planning and managing the logistics for ammunition and ordnance to keep naval operations ready and supplied.

You'll act as an expert advisor on ammunition needs across the fleet, working with teams to oversee planning, budgeting, and procurement decisions.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) level in logistics support for ammunition or ordnance resources

  • Skills in retrieving and analyzing data from various sources to support reporting, planning, and procurement

Full Job Description

You will serve as an ADMINISTRATIVE/TECHNICAL SPECIALIST in the Warfighter Defense & System Integration Department (W), Operations & Integration Division (W5), Ammo Commodity Management Office (W52) of NAVSURFWARCEN IH DIV.

The NT-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-13 and GS-14. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing logistics support (e.g., planning, coordinating, managing, directing) operations to ensure availability of ammunition or ordnance resources needed to support organizational readiness.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will serve as an integral part of the overall logistics planning, direction, and support of the PEO IWS 11 mission and the Systems Integration Department's commodity management team.
  • You will serve as the recognized authority and expert consultant relating to conventional ammunition requirements across the Fleet.
  • You will provide oversight of both the long and short range plans relating to 2T COG ammunition requirements.
  • You will routinely interface with acquisition engineers and other administrative/technical specialists in order to provide oversight and direction.
  • You will retrieve information from various resources to in order to provide analysis that will inform reporting, requirements planning, and procurement decisions across the Fleet.
  • You will support alternatives with regard to acquisition planning and budget exhibits in accordance with regulations established by NAVCOMPT, OSD, and the Presidential Budget.
  • You will report on DON's conventional ammunition posture, has the ability to influence resource allocation, and can affect major changes to programs and goals.
