Job Description

Summary

This role involves coordinating partnerships between naval scientists and external groups like companies, universities, and nonprofits to develop and share new technologies.

You'll handle agreements, support tech commercialization, and identify collaboration opportunities to improve business operations.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to NT-03 (GS-09/10) for NT-04 level, applying analytical methods to assist with partnership agreements and technology transfer for business operations
  • Expertise in establishing formal agreements such as Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs), Education Partnership Agreements, and other technology transfer mechanisms
  • Strong understanding of NUWC Division Newport's technology base and current partnering programs
  • Ability to identify and establish academic and industrial partnership opportunities
  • Skills in providing technical support for technology commercialization, including tech showcases and patent licensing
  • Leadership and team motivation abilities to manage diverse tasks

You will serve as an ADMINISTRATIVE/TECHNICAL SPECIALIST in the Chief Technology Office of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI.

TO QUALIFY FOR THE NT-05 POSITION: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: analyzing or evaluating methods to provide technical support or to identify issues related to partnership agreements and technology transfer programs for the effectiveness of business operations.

TO QUALIFY FOR THE NT-04 POSITION: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-03 (GS-09/10 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: applying analytical or evaluative methods to provide assistance with partnership agreements or technology transfer programs for the effectiveness of business operations.

  • You will serve as a Senior Technology Transfer (T2) and Partnership Coordinator in the Technology Partnership Office (TPO), inside the Chief Technology Office of NUWC Division Newport, RI.
  • You will be responsible for finding the ways and means for scientists and engineers throughout the organization to partner with outside entities to advance the development of our technology through collaboration.
  • You will establish formal agreements (Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs) and other technology transfer mechanisms) with partners from industry, academia or nonprofits (i.e., to interact with non-federal entities (NFEs)).
  • You will be required to be a technical expert in the current or existing partnering programs within the organization, including Collaborative Research and Development Agreements, Education Partnership Agreements, and other formal agreements.
  • You will be required to provide expert technical support for T2 programs that support the Division's technology commercialization program through tech showcases and patent licensing.
  • You will be required to possess a high level of understanding across the broad scope of the technologies related to NUWC Division Newport's technology base.
  • You will be required to demonstrate the ability to identify potential academic and industrial partnership opportunities and subsequently established the appropriate relationships with those academic institutions.
  • You will require the ability to lead and motivate a team and manage a diverse set of tasks.
