About the Position: The Military Entrance Processing Station plays a vital role in maintaining the nation's military might by ensuring that each new member of the Armed Forces: Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard; meets the high mental, moral & medical standards required by the DoD and the military services.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of experience which includes: 1) Providing administrative support, such as maintaining files, calendars, and screen screening calls; 2) preparing office correspondence; 3) Utilizing office automation equipment and software to prepare various types of documents; AND 4) Assisting with various human resources matters, such as time and attendance and awards.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Human Resources, Business Administration/Management or similar field of study.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9.

Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist.

A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Major Duties:

  • Receives visitors and incoming telephone calls to ensure dissemination of information to command staff.
  • Acts as the primary civilian and military personnel systems administrator for employees of the Military Entrance Processing Center.
  • Acts as the civilian personnel liaison between multiple stakeholders on matters related to personnel actions.
  • Maintains civilian time and attendance with the Defense Civilian Payroll System (DCPS).
  • Manages Commander's calendar by scheduling key appointments and meetings.
  • Distributes incoming mail to appropriate entities within the command.
  • Performs typing and other word-processing duties using a variety of office automation systems, software, and technologies.
