Murphy VAMC One position primarily at Balcones Heights VA Clinic The primary purpose of the position is to serve as the Administrative Assistant for the Primary care will be responsible for supporting high quality, accessible, cost-effective health care services resulting in a high-quality patient experience for the Veteran.
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/31/2026.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.
An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.
If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.
In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Analysis and the application of a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of program effectiveness; Knowledge of clinical practices and medical terminology; Use of word processing, database and spreadsheet programs; Knowledge of accounting as it relates to budget controls, planning and record maintenance; Knowledge of personnel management policies and procedures.

Major Duties:
Duties may include but are not limited to: -Serves as the contracting officer's representative (COR) for all contracts Pertaining to the OPC in Primary Care.
-Reviews and provides input on local, issues of regulations, policies, and reports related to Primary Care operations.
-Works with Veteran Experience Advocates at the local VAMC to evaluate patient and family concerns regarding the access to services needed.
-Serves as clinic safety officer conducting inspections on a regular basis. -Coordinates with the Group Practice Manager to predict and manage surges for purchased care.
-Uses Advanced Principles and Strategies for Access Improvement to identify strategies to improve efficiencies or reduce backlog.
-Ensures that workforce performance management programs are fully implemented for staff to include competence assessment, performance appraisal, training, and development needs and appropriate reward and recognition.
-Develops flexibilities in operations and cost-effective approaches to ensure Veteran and employee satisfaction.
-Plays a central role to assist service chiefs and administrative staff to develop and coordinate internal review systems to assure that both clinical and administrative activities are in compliance with agency and accrediting and regulatory requirements.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00a.m. to 4:30p.m.
