Summary

This job involves providing everyday administrative support in a defense logistics office, such as managing records, handling supplies and purchases, preparing reports, and advising leaders on office procedures.

See below for important information regarding this job. To qualify for an Administrative Support Assistant (OA), your resume and supporting documentation must support: A.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position.

To qualify at the GS-06 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector.

Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement.

Creditable specialized experience includes: Conducts routine studies and analyzes a wide variety of statistical and technical data pertaining to operations and administrative functions.

Provides in-house guidance, and assistance on actions involving supply request, procurement, storage, maintenance and utilization of operating supplies and equipment Provides timekeeping, record management, correspondence and filing services for leadership.

Education Substitution: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.

C. Typing Proficiency Requirement: Must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

  • Advises the Director, Command Staff and Supervisors of the areas of Records Management, Data Processing, Supply Management, Purchasing and Office Administration.
  • Utilizes procedures, processes and techniques required to conduct general studies, analyze findings, and recommend solutions on administrative practices.
  • Provides technical guidance and assistance on requirements, regulations and procedures affecting the Organization.
  • Utilizes office automation equipment to prepare reports and correspondence in final form from rough drafts or brief instructions.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records of the Organization's functions and activities.
