About the Position: This is an Administrative Support Assistant, GS-7 position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Northwestern Division (NWD), Omaha District, Engineering Division.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Experience with office automation software such as Microsoft word, Excel, in order to produce documents for reports and spreadsheets; AND 2) Experience preparing correspondence with items such as proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation; AND 3) Experience planning/organizing work, and meeting deadlines.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).

Major Duties:

  • Advise on administrative support related actions to ensure that all deadlines are met in a timely manner.
  • Review and process timekeeping actions for all associated section/branch employees and assisting in timekeeping certification processes.
  • Serve as the personnel coordinator for the branch.
  • Assure the proper preparation of travel orders, vouchers, and other routine financial actions as required.
  • Serve as the section training coordinator.
  • Serve as the branch's Government Purchase Card (GPC) manager, and manages credit card accounts, commitments, obligations, and expenditures, and assures they are within the allocated budget, if applicable.
  • Assist with the creation, monitoring, and execution of the annual section/branch budget.
