This is a non-merit, temporary position. Candidates must follow the instructions in the "To Apply" section. Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.The Customer Experience Bureau of the Iowa Department of Revenue is seeking an administrative document specialist to assist our Forms & Correspondence team.
This is a paid, temporary assignment.
The Department manages hundreds of forms annually. This role is central to ensuring all documents are current, accurate, and compliant with governance standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Incorporating team feedback into revised forms, ensuring changes are reflected correctly between documents
- Confirming documents are named, maintained, and stored correctly according to governance
- Coordinating the flow of documents between team members
- Maintaining accurate updates to the forms inventory document
- Other administrative duties
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
A minimum of five (5) years of administrative experience in a professional office environment
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage tasks independently
Proficiency with Google documents, Microsoft Word, and PDF file management is essential
Exceptional attention to detail
The ideal candidate is required to possess advanced technical proficiency in Microsoft Word, extending beyond routine data entry. Experience with incorporating ADA compliance into form design is also necessary.
Specific Word expertise includes:
Applying and modifying page orientation, margins, and size; utilizing line and paragraph spacing
Appropriate use of tab selectors to set tabs and indents
Appropriate use of page, section, and column breaks, and well as columns
Ability to insert, modify, and manage headers, footers, and tables
Pay rate: $20-30 an hour
Work schedule: Approximately 30 hours per week. Flexible schedule allowed.
Work location: Remote work is available, however, required onboarding and initial training must be attended in person in Des Moines, IA.
Additional requirements:
Applicants must live within the State of Iowa to qualify for this position. Must pass criminal background check, FBI fingerprinting, and be in compliance with Iowa tax filing requirements and willing to participate in the E-verify process.
All Department of Revenue personnel and members of their immediate households are prohibited from participating in any Iowa Lottery games.
