Full Job Description

The Outreach and Community Supports department is seeking an Administrative Manager to lead and manage LAWA (Land, Water, Acknowledgement) strategies, programs, and projects that advance positive collaborative relationships between the Native American Community and leaders across the county enterprise.

Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at 625 4th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55415, and remote as job duties require. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, with typical hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.

In this position you will:
  • Advise and support Hennepin County Administration (HC Admin) with building a continued trusted relationship with the Native American Community leaders.
  • Lead in cultivation from the Native American Community of recommendations of county systems and design and implementation of potential enterprise-wide recommendations from the Native American Community leaders.
  • Lead, develop, and coordinate between HC Admin and the Native American Community.
  • Develop and manage county-wide community engagement events, trainings, educational sessions, and workshops for HC Admin and staff.
  • Oversee management of the county-wide efforts on LAWA (Land, Water, Acknowledge); ensuring the county incorporates LAWA principles into a meaningful, culturally grounded framework for engagement with Native people who interact with county programs and leadership.
  • Collaborate with leadership to create culturally-specific content as it relates to the Native American Community.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate leadership meetings and team development sessions.
  • May provide direct and indirect supervision of staff, plan and organize staff projects, and evaluate the performance of individuals and projects.

Need to have:
  • One of the following:
    • Nine years of experience related to organizational operations or programs or a specialty area appropriate to the position.
    • Bachelor's degree in business administration or other field appropriate to the position and five years of experience related to organizational operations or programs or a specialty area appropriate to the position.

Nice to have:
  • Experience building relationships, connections, and trust within the Native American communities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the concerns within Native American communities, paired with the ability to effectively communicate those concerns to Hennepin County leadership to support positive outcomes for Native American communities.
  • Ability to be the bridge and advocate between the Native American communities and Hennepin County Leadership to foster trust, build relationships, and connections to better serve the Native American communities.
