Responsibilities

  • You will perform a variety of technical and specialized professional and administrative duties to support the Board Executive, licensing and compliance staff, and/or other business functions for the Barber/Cosmetology program areas, including but not limited to, assisting and processing initial, renewal, or reinstatement applications.
  • You will serve as the educational, disciplinary and compliance monitoring designee for the Barber/Cosmetology program areas.
  • You will help prepare for disciplinary proceedings and hearings, review final orders and consent agreements, communicate and distribute disciplinary documents, and prepare letters of caution.
  • You will track and monitor compliance following the issuance of orders and agreements and assist with initiating non-compliance procedures and/or reinstatements of license privileges.
  • You will respond to inquiries received through walk-ins, telephone calls, e-mails, and other methods providing timely and accurate responses to the program areas’ education, disciplinary and compliance procedures.
  • You will perform other duties such as preparing letters and reports, and performing a variety of other administrative, financial, and/or clerical duties in support of the area.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • A high school diploma and relevant experience in business management, public administration, or administrative services. (A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required work experience).

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of relevant program experience.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Considerable knowledge and skill in the use of office equipment, computers, and Microsoft products.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying relevant laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to understand and follow routine and complex instructions.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of office management and general administrative functions.

Other Requirements

  • Position works in an office environment with extended periods of sitting and standing.
  • May require occasional work outside of normal office hours.
  • May be required to lift, carry, move and/or position objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Daily filing, data entry, telephone and computer use.
